BENGALURU: The state government has released the draft copy after the fresh delimitation of Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) wards and has invited objections from the public.
Citizens have been given 15 days to submit objections. The Palike wards, which were to be increased to 243, have been reduced to 225. Objections to the delimitation are coming in from all the eight BBMP zones and so far, more than 100 objections and suggestions have come in. A draft of the ward delimitaton was released on August 18.
Some of the objections received from the public are include:
- Changing the names of some wards.
- Geographies have changed in some wards, and correcting the problem.
- Addressing the problem of scattered layouts after the delimitation of wards.
- Adjacent roads in the same area belong to different wards. This will curb basic facilities and development.
- There is no convenient way for people to contact the ward office and other departments.
- Priority to scientific and logical survey.
- Reduction in the number of wards in some Assembly constituencies.
- Reduction of wards, especially in the BJP MLAs’ constituencies.
