BENGALURU: The Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) had set a deadline to complete the long-pending Ejipura flyover project by December 2023. But the tender process is not yet complete though the financial year is ending, and had got cancelled three times earlier due to various reason. The fourth tender may now be called only in the new financial year even as locals have been complaining about the slow progress of construction work.

The 2.5 km-long Ejipura flyover was proposed in 2017 at a cost of Rs 144 crore to connect Ejipur Main Road and Kendriya Sadan in Koramangala and was supposed to be completed in 2019. But now, only 40 per cent of the construction is completed as the first company which bagged the tender did not execute the work properly, leading to cancellation of the contract.

Ravindra, BBMP Special Commissioner

Ravindra, BBMP, Special Commissioner, said, “We plan to complete the project this year and the tender process is also completed with two bidders participating. It will placed before technical evaluation committee before final evaluation. Earlier, the bidders had quoted very high and the last time, just one bidder participated, so we invited fresh tenders. If this is also rejected, the construction work will get delayed. If the tender process is completed, we will start the work and it need at least six months to complete. The work order will be issued after completing the tender process”.
