BBMP dug up good concrete roads for asphalting after two years.

BENGALURU: Just two years after it was white-topped a road in Mavalli ward under Chickpet Assembly constituency has been dug up, causing inconvenience to resident. White-topped roads are expected to last 20 years and locals are now alleging that the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) is relaying the road close to the election, which is not necessary.

Local resident Vallish Kaushik, said, “Whether it is environment, road or other construction works, these are ways to make money. This is a big scam. Earlier, the BBMP had white-topped the Venkataswamappa Road in Mavalli, Nanjegowda Street, Rangappa Road and Masjid Road. The quality of work was good and it lasted for 20 years. But now, the BBMP is creating problems for people by digging the roads. The construction work is also unscientific and redoing it is not really necessary”, he claimed.

Ravindra, BBMP, special commissioner promised of taking suitable action after once he received report

Palike Special Commissioner Ravindra said there is need to check the quality of road. For road project, there is a defects liability period (DLP). If anything happens to a road within that time, the contractor will be responsible for relaying it. He said he has instructed the engineers concerned to submit a report on whether the DLP is over and said the civic boy will take suitable action against officers and contractors if they are at fault.
