BENGALURU: A day after petitioning Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot over unpaid bills, contractors met senior BJP leader B S Yediyurappa at his Dollar’s Colony residence on Wednesday and sought his support in their fight.
The contractors reportedly complained to Yediyurappa that Deputy Chief Minister D K Shivakumar was demanding 15 per cent commission from them to clear their bills. Yediyurappa assured the delegation that he would speak to Shivakumar once again and request him to release funds for the works completed.
Later, the BBMP constractors association president Manjunath said, “We are meeting all the 28 MLAs from Bengaluru and seeking their support. We have already met ministers Krishna Byregowda, Byrathi Suresh and Ramalinga Reddy and presented a memorandum. We have met the governor too. The chief engineers have already conducted checks and issued reports, but the BBMP chief commissioner is not clearing our bills. We don’t know why they are troubling us”.
The contractors are meeting all the 28 MLAs in the city from all parties seeking their support for their cause. They have sought the help of the lawmakers in getting funds released and threatened to end their lives.
