BENGALURU: Be cautious before parking motorcycles in front of Shantinagar family court as neither lawyers’ bikes or their clients’ are safe there. In broad daylight, thieves stole batteries from several Royal Enfield motorcycles parked outside the court.
The act happened while the motorcycles were parked outside and owners had gone inside the court. One or two thieves unscrewed and escaped with Royal Enfield motorcycle batteries as it’s easy to remove them. Hence, thieves have specifically targeted only Royal Enfield bikes.
One Bullet bike battery costs Rs 3,000-4,000 and thieves are doing this dangerous job to earn easy money. Even with people around, they’re fearlessly stealing bike batteries. Riders are forced to push their bikes due to the miscreants’ act and are cursing them. Some bike owners have filed a complaint about the theft at Siddapura police station.
“I was visiting the family court on behalf of my company for a settlement of a case. I had parked my Bullet motorcycle outside and by the time I returned, thieves had stolen the battery. I will have to shell out more than Rs 3,000 for the battery and wiring”, said Thandavamurthy, a motorcycle owner.
“There is no parking facility within the court premises and we have to leave the vehicle by the roadside. Apart from paying for lawyers and court fee, now we have to bear this additional cost also. The government should ensure law and order”, said Kamala, the wife of another Royal Enfield motorcycle owner.
