Bangalore University secures A++ NAAC grade

BENGALURU: The Bangalore University has been accredited with a CGPA of 3.75 on a four-point scale at A++ Grade in the IV cycle from the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC). It is the first public university in the state to achieve the grade.

The university submitted a self-study report for the assessment period from 2018 to 2022. Very few universities in the country have gone for a fourth cycle. Among public universities in the country, after JNU, Bangalore University has attained the achievement. Due to this, BU will attain absolute autonomous status and gain national recognition, a press release from Vice-Chancellor Dr Jayakara S M said.

According to the press release, the university performed well in NAAC-specified 7 criteria such as curricular aspects, teaching, learning and evaluation, research, innovations and extension, infrastructure and learning resources, student support and progression, governance leadership and management, institutional values and best practices.
The university was accredited with A grade from NAAC in past two cycles with 3.16 CGPA. The BU has upgraded its
performance multifold to achieve the status, it said.

To achieve higher level of academic excellence, the BU has taken up initiatives such as digital evaluation system, introduction of new UG and PG courses, more than 10 publications from each faculty, highest research funding, consultancy projects, high citation index, good number of patents, highest support to the students from marginalised
community, biodiversity conservation and alumni contribution to development activities, the release said.

The university has performed more than 95% in all the metrics of NAAC. The NAAC peer team visited the university during May 17-19, 2023, to evaluate the qualitative metric. The peer team has applauded the accomplishments of university in infrastructure, academic and human resource management, the release added.
