Shops and commercial establishments in Badami town were shut voluntarily.

BAGALKOT: A voluntary bandh was observed in Badami town on Friday in protest against the slaughter of several heads of cattle at a farm on Thursday.

All shops and commercial establishments remained shut in the town and additional police personnel were deployed to maintain peace. There were no reports of any untoward incident, according to the police.

The bandh comes a day after several heads of cattle were found slaughtered on a farm land.

On Thursday, several heads of cattle were slaughtered on the fields belonging to one Khazi along with sacks and mounds of meat and bones. Skulls, skin and other body parts were dumped in one place while the dead cattle were hung from hooks.

On receiving information, Sri Rama Sene activists visited the spot and alerted the police who arrived there. One person who was found at the scene, was questioned by the police and he claimed that he had come to buy meat. The police are conducting further investigation.
