BENGALURU: The city police cracked the case of the brutal murder of a woman, whose body was dumped in a BBMP garbage truck, within 20 hours of registering the case. The CK Achukattu police have arrested Shamshuddin, a native of Assam, in connection with the case.
Preliminary investigation revealed that the accused killed his live-in partner due to her habit of coming home drunk and creating a ruckus every day.
After murdering the woman, the accused had dumped her body in a sack and thrown into a BBMP garbage truck in the Chennammanakere Achukattu police station limits.
During the preliminary investigation, it was found that Pushpa @ Asha, the deceased, and the accused Samshuddin, had become acquainted while working at a private company near Hulimavu. They had been in a live-in relationship for two years. However, the woman would come home drunk and create a ruckus and also talk on the phone till late at night, which led to quarrels between the two.
The quarrel escalated and the accused killed her by assaulting her. He then wrapped the body in a sack and threw it into a garbage truck using a bike. It was also revealed that Asha was previously married and had two children, and the accused Shamsuddin has a wife and two children in Assam.
The woman’s body was stuffed into a sack, which was then dumped into a garbage truck near a skating ground in Chennammanakere police station limits on Sunday. At 1.40 am, a local person who came to throw garbage, opened the sack and saw human hair, then realised it was a body and immediately informed the police.
When the police arrived, it was revealed that the woman had been murdered. The CK Achukattu police registered an FIR based on the complaint given by the local person and two teams were formed to search for the killer based on CCTV footage.
The police later identified the woman as Pushpa @ Asha, a resident of Hulimavu. They also found that a two-wheeler was used to transport the body. The police laid a trap to catch the accused and arrested him within 20 hours of registering the case under the leadership of Inspector Girish Naik.
