BENGALURU: The Lokayukta police raid on K R Puram tahsildar Ajit Rai over disproportionate assets last week had created a huge sensation in the state.
The Lokayukta officials verified documents related to movable and immovable properties at Ajit Rai’s house, but he did not give convincing replies to several questions of the Lokayukta. The total worth of the properties owned by Ajit Rai are still being estimated.
After preliminary investigation, the Lokayukta police have informed the Revenue Department that Ajit Rai has disproportionate assets to the tune of 70 per cent ( 69.80 per cent) than his known sources of income.
Following this, the Revenue Department has demoted Ajit Rai from grade 1 to grade 2 officer and transferred him to Shirawar taluk in Raichur. Ajit Rai will be under suspension until further orders.
