Armyman returning home for wedding falls from train, dies

The mortal remains of the soldier was taken through the main streets of the village before beign laid to rest.

BELAGAVI: An armyman who was to get married in eight days and was returning to his native village, died after he slipped from the train he was travelling in. The deceased has been identified as Kashinath Shindigar (28).

Kashinath, who hailed from Kanasageri village in Gokak taluk, had joined the Indian Army eight years ago. He was returning home from Punjab, where he had been posted, when he lost his footing near Ludhiana and fell on June 8.

The soldier was laid to rest with full military honours.

A pall of gloom descended on the entire village as the mortal remains of the soldier were brought home. The body was taken through the main streets of the village and the final rites were conducted with full military honours.
