BENGALURU: After the brutal murder of Hindu activist Suhas Shetty, another Hindu leader, Bharat Kumar Kumdelu, received an open threat to his life through a social media post which even announced a date for his murder.
The post, which included a photo of the late Hindu leader Suhas Shetty with a tick mark, threatened to kill Bharat Kumdelu on May 5, 2025, at 9.30 pm at his location.
Notably, Bharat Kumdelu was a key accused in the murder of SDPI leader Ashraf Kalai, who was brutally killed on June 21, 2017, in Bantwal. Ashraf Kalai was a prominent leader of the banned SDPI, and his murder had led to retaliatory violence, including the killing of Sharat Madivala in Bantwal.
Bharat Kumar, speaking to Public TV, after the life-threat post went viral, said, “Life-threat is not the first time for me. Someone will threaten me with a post on social media creating a fake account from a remote location. They should not do that. If they dare, they should be ready for a face-off. I have not given any complaint so far. When Diganth had gone missing, we just raised our voice against the police department for delayed the search, but never blamed the Muslims. I am targeted just because I am an active leader in the Hindu group. There was a huge network of drug peddlers. Youths are becoming addicted to it. That time, we pressured the police department to conduct an inquiry into the source of the drug supply.”
