DAVANAGERE: An accused in a rape case escaped from jail by jumping over a 40-foot compound wall in Davanagere, sustaining injuries in the process. The accused has been identified as Vasant (23).
He is a resident of Karur on the outskirts of the city and is an autorickshaw driver. A complaint was registered against him two days ago at the Davangere women’s police station based on which he was arrested.
The prison staff were alerted soon after he went missing and a complaint was filed a complaint at the Basavanagar police station. The Police laid a trap to nab the accused and was reported to have been nabbed in Haveri.
