All govt programmes cancelled for the day, says Deputy CM Shivakumar

CHIKKABALLAPUR: Deputy Chief Minister D K Shivakumar, who rushed back to Bengaluru from Belagavi following the death of former CM S M Krishna, said all government programmes on Tuesday stand cancelled. The winter session of the legislature is being held in Belagavi from December 9 to 20.

Speaking to reporters at the Kempegowda International Airport, he said, “All government programmes have been cancelled, even the Congress legislature party meeting has been cancelled. I had organised a dinner for legislators in Belagavi, but that has been cancelled too. At 5 pm, there will be a condolence meeting at the Bharat Jodo Bhavan”.

He said that after visiting S M Krishna’s residence at Sadashivnagar in Bengaluru, he and Mandya district in-charge minister will travel to Maddur to make arrangements for the final rites of S M Krishna at his native place. He also said he would discuss with the CM and S M Krishna’s family members on the future course of action.
