BENGALURU: Traders of Akkipet in Chamarajpet Assembly constituency have alleged that the Greater Bengaluru Authority (GBA) tried to demolish some shops after the owners shared a video requesting to solve some civic problems.
In Akkipet, there is growing suspicion whether GBA officials and the contractor are targetting traders and harbouring personal grudges. After some traders made a video and spoke about the problems caused by the stormwater drain, it is alleged that officials tried to demolish the shops of those very traders.
Whenever it rains on this main road, drain water overflows and enters the shops. Even after telling the local engineers about this many times, the problem was not solved. Fed up, they made a video and shared the issue on social media.
Angered by this, the local engineers are now allegedly moving to take action against those who made the video, the traders allege. They said that no notice was given before clearing the sheds. When they tried to stop it, they were even threatened with assault. The traders are questioning how it is right to target traders out of personal spite.
