Ahead of polling, IMD issues rain alert for three more day due to cyclonic effect

BENGALURU: Even as the state readies to cast its vote for the Assembly elections on Wednesday, the India Meteorological Department issued a warning stating that a cyclonic effect will bring rain in south- and north-interior Karnataka and coastal Karnataka for the coming few day. As per the Meteorological Department, there will be thunderstorm with rain accompanied by lightning at isolated places over Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts in coastal Karnataka.

Several ares in Silicon city received a heavy downpour on Monday evening as a result of a cyclone in the Southeast Bay of Bengal. About five houses have collapsed due to heavy rainfall in Veerabhadra Nagar slum near PES College. In addition, a compound wall also collapsed and cars parked in the apartment premises were completely damaged.

The Meteorological Department has predicted that there is a possibility of rain with thunder and lightning for three more days. Due to impact of cyclone, there has been a low pressure in the sea level due to which there may be a possibility of a cyclone in the Bay of Bengal on May 10. There will be rainfall in the state for the next three more days due to its impact. The impact will be more in the southern hinterland.

Meteorologist Prasad said, there may be have moderate rainfall in Bengaluru and Bengaluru Rural areas today night

Meteorologist Prasad said, “There is possibility of rainfall in several places today and tomorrow. Light/moderate rain is likely over the few days. The India Meteorological Department issued a warning of thunderstorm with rain in south-interior Karnataka. There may be have light to moderate rainfall in north-interior Karnataka on Tuesday and Wednesday. In the coastal areas, there may be light to moderate rain with lightning for the next three days”.

As far as Bengaluru is concerned, there may be moderate rainfall in Bengaluru city and Bengaluru Rural areas on Tuesday night, he added.
