After Cong govt takes over, FIR filed over fund misuse in Ganga Kalyana scheme

BENGALURU: Just days after the new Congress government assumed office, the first FIR has been filed alleging irregularities in the Ganga Kalyana Yojane during the tenure of the previous BJP government.

The Ambedkar Development Corporation has lodged a complaint with the Vidhana Soudha police alleging irregularities running into crores in the Ganga Kalyana Yojane by tossing tender norms out of the window.

The complaint alleges that fake documents were created basesd on which crores of rupees were released. The Vidhana Soudha police have registered an FIR based on the complaint and the Congress government is expected to hand over the case to the Criminal Investigation Department (CID).

In 2021, a House committee was set up to probe the allegations of wrongdoing in the Ganga Kalyana Yojane and the committee had submitted an interim report. The Ganga Kalyana Yojane envisaged drilling borewells or digging open wells followed by the installation of pump sets and accessories on poor farmers’ lands.
