GADAG: Sandalwood actor Yash’s team visited the houses of his fans who lost their lives after they were electrocued while they were erecting a 25-foot-tall cutout to wish the actor on his birthday. The team handed over cheques of Rs 5 lakh each to the families of the deceased and Rs 2 lakh for the injured.

While Yash has given compensation; the villagers of Suranagi in Lakshmeshwar taluk have been demanding the government to release compensation and said that the Rs 2 lakh relief announced by the government is not enough. They are demanding that the government should announce 2 acres each for the families of the deceased through Ambedkar Development Corporation and that statues of the deceased should be installed at the site of the incident. They also demanded steps to ensure that such incidents should not happen again.

Hanumantha Harijan (24), Murali Panthimani (20) and Naveen Gazi (20) died due to electrocution while erecting a huge cutout on the occasion of Yash’s birthday in Surangi village of Lakshmeshwar. Manjunath, Prakash and Hanumanthu were seriously injured in the incident and are undergoing treatment. The accident took place around 1 am when the cutout was being erected. As it was night time, they did not notice the power lines overhead and the metal frame of the cutout came in contact with the wires, electrocuting them.

As soon as he came to know about this matter, Yash visited the village and consoled the family members of the deceased fans. He also went to the hospital and inquired about the health of the injured. Later, Yash requested his fans that henceforth no one should install his cutouts.
