BENGALURU: Home Minister G Parameshwara on Wednesday said action will be taken against actor Upendra and Horticulture Minister S S Mallikarjun for their casteist comments.
Reacting to the complaints lodged against Upendra and Mallikarjun for making casteist comment, Parameshwara said, “I will discuss it with Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and take legal action against them”.
Days after cases were filed against Upendra and minister S S Mallikarjun, the Home Minister said such statements cannot be tolerated. “They should understand that no one should speak lowly about a community or defame it. It is not right to even use proverbs which treats a community lowly”, he said and termed their statements as “nonsense”.
“This should be stopped right away, I can’t tolerate this anymore. Isn’t it an insult to a community to talk like this? Whether it is a minister or anyone else, we will take legal action”, said the Home Minister.
He further said, “I don’t know what Minister Mallikarjun said, but I read about it in the newspapers. The case registered against him in Rajajinagar has been transferred to Vidhana Soudha police. It is not right to defame other communities in public. Won’t it hurt them?”, he asked. “We will talk with the CM about both the complaints and take further action as per law”, Minister Parameshwar said.
