Three men rob Bantwal businessman posing as ED officials, arrested by DK police

MANGALURU: Three men, hailing from Kollam in Kerala, who had duped a businessman of Rs 30 lakh by posing as Enforcement Directorate (ED) officials, have been arrested by the Dakshina Kannada police. The accused are Anil Fernandes, Sachin and Shabin.

While Anil and Sachin were arested from Mumbai, Shabin was arrested from the Thiruvananthapuram airport just before they could flee the country.

On January 3, the trio had ‘raided’ the residence of Sulaiman Haji at Narsha near Bolanthur in Bantwal taluk after arriving in two cars. They questioned Sulaiman for over two hours and took away cash and gold ornaments worth about Rs 30 lakh.

Sulaiman Haji runs Singari Beedis apart from various other businesses. After the incdent, a case had been registered at the Vitla police station and Dakshina Kannada SP Yatish had formed four teams to crack the case.
