BENGALURU: The Bengaluru traffic police fined a two-wheeler rider, Sudeep, a whopping Rs 1.61 lakh for multiple traffic violations. After he was tracked down, the vehicle owner finally paid the penalty and took his bike home.
The two-wheeler, with the registration number KA-05-EGH-1344, had accumulated fines for various offences, including not wearing helmet and jumping signals. Last year, a fine of 1,05,500 had accumulated on the bike. This year, the fine was increased to 1,61,000. Even then, the person was riding it without any fear of police.
A person posted about it on social media, and it went viral. Netizens questioned why the traffic police had not taken action against the rider earlier, despite multiple traffic violations. As soon as the photo started circulating on social media, the traffic police took the case seriously and tracked down the bike, seizing it and issued a notice to Sudeep to pay the fine.
After paying the fine, Sudeep was made aware of the importance of following traffic rules and was let off with a warning. He was also made to wear a helmet before being allowed to leave.
