Woman gangraped near KR Market, two arrested

BENGALURU: Two men were arrested for gangraping a woman who was waiting for a bus near KR Market in Bengaluru and robbed of her mobile phone, cash, and gold jewellery. The incident occurred around 11.30 pm on Sunday.

The two accused, identified as Ganesh and Sharavana, work as labourers at KR Market. The victim, who is from Tamil Nadu, had come to Bengaluru and was waiting for a bus to Yelahanka when they lured her and gangraped her.

The victim was looking for a job and was spending her days near Victoria Hospital in KR Market as she couldn’t find employment. The accused took advantage of her situation, befriended her and asked about her work. When she opened up about her problem, they promised her to get a job, took her to the Godown Street nearby where they committed the crime.

The victim filed a complaint with the Central Division Women’s police station and a case was registered for gang rape. The police formed two special teams to investigate the case and catch the accused. According to police sources, the two accused were arrested on Tuesday. Further investigation is under way.
