MANGALURU: A drunk man, who aimed his licenced gun at his son, mistakenly shot his wife dead, at Nelluru Kemraje in Sullia taluk on Friday night. He then later committed suicide by consuming some chemical used in rubber extraction. The couple had two sons.
Ramachandra Gowda (52) was a habitual drinker and would frequently quarrel with his wife Vinoda (42). On Friday night too, an argument ensued between the couple when their son Prashanth intervened. When Ramachandra Gowda aimed his gun at his son, Vinoda came in between and the bullet hit her in the chest, killing her instantly. Upset over this, Ramachandra ended his life.
Due to his frequent quarrels, the villagers had got Ramachandra to deposit his licenced gun with the police. However, he had taken it back just three days ago. The Sullia police have registered a case and taken up further investigation.
