This development comes after a major controversy arose after a technical glitch was found in the Metro viaduct on the MG Road-Byappanahalli route. The BMRCL plans to use AI-powered high-resolution cameras and drones to monitor the entire Metro network, including pillars, viaducts and beams. This will enable the authorities to quickly identify and address any issues quickly.

The Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) is preparing to call a tender for this project soon. The use of AI and drones is expected to save time and provide accurate information about any issues.

The Metro service is a lifeline for Bengaluru’s commuters, and the BMRCL’s decision to use AI for maintenance is a welcome move from a safety perspective.
