BENGALURU: Rajarajeshwari Nagar BJP MLA Munirathna was injured near Rajkumar’s memorial after a man pelted an alleged ‘acid egg’ on the MLA’s head when he was heading to participate in Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s 100th birth anniversary programme.
Protesters also pelted stones at Munirathna’s car and the front windshield was smashed. Muniratna alleged a conspiracy had been hatched to attempt murder him and hence, there was an attempt to attack him with acid. However, the police intervened and took control of the situation.
Munirathna alleged that this was a plan of Deputy CM DK Shivakumar and DK Suresh, to attempt to kill him. Muniratna made serious allegations that he was attacked with acid-filled egg. “Stones were pelted at my car and a group tried to kill me. DK Suresh wants to make Kusuma a legislator, and that’s why I was attacked”, he claimed.
The police have taken more than 15 protesters, including Congress supporters into custody. Former Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai and former Home Minister Araga Jnanendra have condemned the incident.
