BENGALURU: Some unidentified persons have cultivated maize on Bangalore Development Authority (BDA) land on Survey Number 167/2 in Ullal village without permission.
This land was previously occupied illegally by a few small shops, including a scrap shop, which were evicted two months ago. Since then, no one had trespassed on the premises until someone suddenly began farming here a week ago. They have ploughed the land and sowed maize seeds.
When inquired about this, the BDA West Chief Engineer stated that this is indeed BDA land, which previously encroached upon and was cleared and a name board erected. However, someone has now begun farming here and BDA engineers have visited the site to investigate.
Ravikumar, Chief Engineer-West, BDA, told Public TV over phone, “There is no court stay on this land. We will identify those responsible and take action. Some encroachers fled the place as soon as they saw officials. A warning has also been issued that if anyone else attempts to encroach upon BDA property, an FIR will be filed. Once I check the report on S.N 167/2, everything will be reported in detail about the land”.
