RAICHUR: Residents of S Buddini village in Maski taluk are fed up of the trouble being caused by a lone monkey which has been constantly attacking them. The villagers are troubled so much so that they hesitate to step out to their farm lands and children skip school.
The lone monkey enters houses and snatches food items, jumps on to people and even causes injuries. One woman and her children were even bitten by the simian. The villagers also say the monkey pulls around goats in the village.
Apprehensive about what more trouble the simian will cause, the villagers have approached the Forest Department and the gram panchayat with an appeal to relocate the monkey to a forest. However, no action has been taken so far, they allege.
Nagareddappa, a resident of the village, said the monkey had been troubling them for the last 20 days. “It has been attacking people and one woman has already been attacked. It has also been attacking goats and schoolchildren. We have brought the issue to the notice of the gram panchayat, but they washed off their hands. The Forest Department says the Panchayat Development Officer has to write to them and bear the cost of catching the monkey. The PDO says the gram panchayat has no funds. We request the authorities to act at the earliest and relocate the monkey”.
