BENGALURU: Amid speculation over scrapping the Congress government’s Shakti free travel scheme for women, the Bengaluru Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC) is making efforts to generate revenue. The BMTC, which is facing a financial crisis, is now looking for ways to increase revenue and has come up with a plan to display advertisements on its buses.

Around 3,000 non-air-conditioned buses out of BMTC’s fleet of over 6,000 buses will be wrapped with advertisements. Until now, BMTC allowed advertisements only on the rear side of its buses. However, as per the new plan, advertisements will be displayed on all sides of the buses, except for the front and rear glasses.

The BMTC expects to earn a monthly revenue of over Rs 30 lakh through this initiative.
