MYSURU: The state government has proposed to construct a golden chariot for Goddess Chamundeshwari atop Chamundi Hills at an estimated cost of Rs 100 crore. Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has forwarded a proposal to the principal secretary of the Revenue Department with instructions to examine it and to place a formal proposal before the government.
Legislative Council member Dinesh Gooligowda had written a letter to the CM citing the historical importance of the Chamundi Hill temple. He had also suggested utilising the donation box (hundi) offerings and seeking gold donations from the public for the purpose. The MLC had also suggested that separate donation boxes can be installed to collect funds for the constructions of the golden chariot.
