Anonymous letter to Prez, PM seeks CBI probe into SDA Rudresh’s death at tahsildar’s office

BELAGAVI: A week after and anonymous letter claimed that the recent death of Rudranna Yedavannavar, a second division assistant (SDA) at the tahsildar’s office, was not a suicide, but a murder, another letter, addressed to President Droupadi Murmu, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and others has sought a CBI probe into the incident.

Rudresh was found hanging at the tahsildar’s office on November 5. He had reportedly sent out a text on WhatsApp holding three people responsible for his death. The accused tahsildar Basavaraj Nagarala, Ashok Kabbaliger and minister Laxmi Hebbalkar’s personal assistant Somu have since secured bail in the case.

The latest letter, which claims to be from a staffer at the tahsildar’s office, says there are several doubts regarding Rudresh’s death and that the other staff are strongly behind the tahsildar Basavaraj to mislead the investigation. The staff has been tutored to say that they are not aware of anything, the letter says.

The letter also names Village Administrative Officers (VAOs) S P Shinde, Basanagouda Patil and Kiran Toragal, Second Division Assistant Surekha Nerli claiming that they exerted pressure on the staff of the tahsildar’s office. It also alleges that Surekha was responsible for the death of Pradeep Patil, an office assistant, which was covered up by the tahsildar’s driver Yellappa Badasada.

The letter claims that Shinde sweets were distributed at Shinde’s office the day the tahsildar was granted bail while Kiran Toragal has not been attending office ever since Rudresh’s death. The letter also sought an investigation into the death of Pradeep Patil and Mahesh Chowgule, a land owner.

The letter was also marked to governor Thaawarchand Gehlot, CM Siddaramaiah, Revenue Minister Krishna Byregowda and district and police officers.
