KOLAR: Two people, including a former president of the city municipal council, have been arrested for defrauding a bank of Rs 4 crore by producing fake documents. The arrested are Das Chinnasavari and his partner Sanghamitra.
The duo had conspired with the manager of the Central Bank of India to defraud the bank. A case had been registered against them at the Kolar CEN police station. They were arrested by the Kolar CEN police and the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), Bengaluru.
Kolar SP Nikhil B said, “A cheating case was registered at the CEN police station for bank fraud of Rs 4 crore. The Kolar CEN police and the CID have arrested the third accused Sanghamitra and fourth accused Das Chinnasavari. They have been handed over to the custody of the CID”.
The duo was arrested in connection with fraud related to securing loans from the bank. They would create fake documents, take loans in the names of other people and utilise the money themselves, the SP explained. “We will take action against all the others involved in the case”, he added.
