The farmer dumped 10 bags of marigold by the roadside.

KOLAR: With the sudden steep fall in prices, a farmer dumped his marigold produce by the side of the Kolar-Bangarpet road on Wednesday. The prices have crashed after the festival season.

Farmer Narayanappa of Nernahalli in Bangarpet taluk said traders had initially offered him Rs 10 per kg, but when he took 10 bags of red marigold to the market, the traders refused to buy it.

Narayanappa said he had spent Rs 50,000 to cultivate marigold on four acres of land. Upset over the steep price drop, he dumped his produce by the roadside and sid the government should come to the aid of distressed farmers.
