70 organisations in Jayanagar plan protest on Sunday over non-release of grants for development

BENGALURU: At least 70 organisations in Jayanagar plan to stage a massive protest on Sunday demanding the release of grants with the theme ‘My Tax My Right’ to seek release of funds for development works.

Jayanagar MLA C K Ramamurthy said that Deputy CM D K Shivakumar has advised him to ‘be humble’. In a befitting reply, the MLA said, he will be humble only before the people and elders of his constituency.

Jayanagar constituency residents are protesting against the Deputy CM and the government for withholding grants. Shivakumar’s approach has come in for criticism with over 70 organisations fighting for grants.

Jayanagar MLA Ramamurthy said, “I will bow down to my constituency’s people and elders”. He also said he would meet DK Shivakumar again and urge him to release grants and focus on constituency developments, citing the pathetic condition of the roads in the constituency.

Not only the organizations of Jayanagar Constituency but also the celebrities who are voters residing there are urging the government to release grants. Actress Tara and actor Anirudha from Jayanagar constituency also appealed to D K Shivakumar to release more grants for development projects.
