Man arrested for opening fire at employer in murder bid

MADIKERI: The Somwarpet police have arrested a man who had opened fire at his employer at Surlabi Hanchinadu village last Saturday night.

The arrested Chanda had been working at the house of Annaiah, an autorickshaw driver from Hanchinadu village. After a dispute, Chanda had opened fire and fled. Following the incident, Chanda had been absconding. Luckily, Annaiah had escaped with injuries.

The Somwarpet police, who had registered a case, conducted a search of Chanda for four days and finally found him hiding in the Kunddi forest near Surlabi village and arrested him.

Annaiah had suffered injuries in the stomach and left hand. The Madapura police, who had visited the site on the day of the incident, had shifted him to the district hospital in Madikeri from where he was shifted to a hospital in Mangaluru for further treatment.

According to sources, Annaiah had a property dispute with his brother Biddappa and Chanda may have opened fire at Annaiah at Biddappa’s instance.
