Hope everyone exercises their democratic right: Priyanka Gandhi as polling underway for Wayanad by-polls

WAYANAD: Congress candidate for Wayanad Lok Sabha by-elections, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra on Wednesday exuded confidence in winning and expects that the people will give her a chance to be their representative.

Priyanka Gandhi also visited a polling centre in Wayanad where voting is currently underway.

Afterwards, speaking to the media, she said, “My expectation is that the people of Wayanad will give me the chance to repay the love and affection they have shown and to work for them and to be their representative. I hope everyone will exercise their democratic right and vote.”

Priyanka is in the electoral contest against Left Democratic Front’s (LDF) Sathyan Mokeri and BJP’s Navya Haridas from the seat.

Earlier today, the Congress candidate urged the voters to come out in large numbers and exercise their rights.

In a post on X Priyanka Gandhi shared, “My dearest sisters and brothers, please vote today, it’s your day, a day for you to make your choice and exercise the greatest power our constitution has given you. Let’s build a better future together!”

Meanwhile, voting is also underway in the by-elections for 31 assembly seats across 10 states, as well as the Wayanad Lok Sabha constituency in Kerala.

Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra is making her electoral debut from Kerala’s Wayanad, a seat previously won by her brother, Rahul Gandhi. Priyanka is contesting against Left Democratic Front (LDF) candidate Satyan Mokeri and BJP’s Navya Haridas in the bypoll. The Chelakkara assembly seat in Thrissur district is also going to the polls on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, the assembly seats where bypolls are being held on Wednesday include seven in Rajasthan, six in West Bengal, and five in Assam among others.

Bypolls will be held for West Bengal’s six assembly seats: Naihati, Haroa, Medinipur, Taldangra, Sitai, and Madarihat. In Assam, polling will be held for the Samaguri, Behali, Bongaigaon, Sidli, and Dholai seats.

Voting for Jharkhand Assembly first phase election is also underway. The counting of votes will take place on November 23. (ANI)
