Former PM Deve Gowda meets Islamic religious leader, seek votes for Nikhil Kumaraswamy

RAMANAGARA: Former Prime Minister H D Deve Gowda visited the residence of an Islamic religious leader in Channapatna, seeking support for his grandson and NDA candidate Nikhil Kumaraswamy, who is contesting the by-elections from the constituency.

HD Deve Gowda met Syed Masanna Shah Khadri, the head of Akhil Shah Khadri Dargah, at his residence and appealed to the Muslim community to vote for Nikhil. Several JD(S) leaders were present during the meeting.

This comes after JD(S) strategized to woo minority votes in Channapatna, where Muslims constitute a significant population of over 30,000. Deve Gowda held a campaign meeting with the Muslim community in Channapatna.

Earlier, Deve Gowda held a minority meeting in Channapatna. He has been campaigning hard for his grandson for the past five days.
