Three-storey building collapses in Bangarpet, no casualties

The house crumbled like a pack of cards.

KOLAR: A three-storey building which was being renovated, suddenly collapsed on KEB Road at Mudaliar Layout in Bangarpet on Friday. Luckily, no one was injured as the inmates of the house had rushed outside as soon as the building started leaning. The house belongs to one Boodikote Rajkumar.

The police and firemen rushed to the spot on receiving information. The fire brigade personnel then got all the three families to move out. The debris on the road was later cleared with the help of excavators. A school compound in front of the house was also damaged.

The debris was cleared by excavators.

It is said that the building started tilting about two months ago, but no action was taken. After the house collapsed, traffic movement on Cantonment Road was stopped. Legislator Narayanaswamy and municipal officials visited the spot and the police are likely to initiate action against the house owner for negligence.
