BENGALURU: Ahead of Deepavali festival, the Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) has made arrangements for a possible surge in the number of travellers. Over 2,000 additional buses will be operated on both intra- and inter-state routes.
KSRTC will operate 2,000 extra buses from Bengaluru to various destinations within and outside the state from October 31 to November 2.These special buses will cater to passengers travelling during Naraka Chaturdashi on October 31, Kannada Rajyotsava on November 1 and Balipadyami on November 2.
Additionally, special bus services will be operated from various places in the state and other states to Bengaluru on November 3 and 4.
* There will be special buses from Kempegowda Bus Stand to Dharmasthala, Kukke Subhramanya, Shivamogga, Hassan, Mangaluru, Kundapur, Sringeri, Horanadu, Davanagere, Hubballi, Dharwad, Belagavi, Vijayapura, Gokarna, Sirsi, Karwar, Raichur, Kalaburagi, Ballari, Koppal, Yadgir, Bidar, Tirupati, Vijayawada and Hyderabad.
* There will be special bus facilities from Mysore Road Bus Station towards Mysuru, Hunasur, Periyapatna, Virajpet, Kushalanagar, Madikeri route.
* Luxury transport to Tamil Nadu and Kerala i.e Madurai, Kumbakonam, Chennai, Coimbatore, Trichy, Palakkad, Thrissur, Ernakulam, Kozhikode, etc. will be operated from Shantinagar.
Considering the convenience of public passengers, advance seat reservation facilities have been provided for additional transport. In a notification, the transport corporation has asked passengers to note the name of the bus stop/pick-up point mentioned on the pre-booked tickets before proceeding to the bus stops.

The organization has stated that a 5 per cent discount will be given if four or more passengers book together and a 10 per cent discount on the return journey fare if both onward and return journey tickets are booked in bulk.
The corporation’s advance reservation counters are available in major cities of neighbouring states including Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Kerala, Goa, Maharashtra, and Puducherry, through which advance booking of seats for the corporation’s buses can also be made.
Details of additional buses operated, their departure points, and timings are made available on the online booking system and the corporation’s website portal for public information. Special buses will operate from all taluk/district bus stations within the corporation’s operational area, depending on traffic demand.
