HAVERI: BJP candidate and former chief minister Basavaraj Bommai’s, son Bharat Bommai, filed his nomination for the Shiggaon bypoll, accompanied by his wife Ibbani and party workers. Bharat Bommai submitted his nomination papers to election officer Mohammad Khizer.
Speaking to the media, Bharat said, “I have filed my nomination papers at an auspicious time, as advised by my mother. I consider my parents and elders as my gurus and have filed my nomination with their blessings. Tomorrow, we will take out a procession along with party leaders and B S Yediyurappa, and submit another set of nomination papers”.
He added that he would campaign door-to-door and that he had already visited temples and sought blessings. Bharat promised to continue the development work initiated by his father, former CM Basavaraj Bommai, and to release a manifesto for the constituency’s development.
“I campaigned for my father in 2023. Now, the party has given me a ticket and I am campaigning myself”, he said. “We will also release a manifesto of the development works of this constituency”, he added.
Bharat Bommai arrived in his lucky Mahindra Scorpio SUV to submit his nomination papers. Former CM Basavaraj Bommai had also travelled in the same vehicle to file his nomination.
