Stone pelted at Mahabodhi Express while approaching Mirzapur in Uttar Pradesh

MIRZAPUR (Uttar Pradesh): The Mahabodhi Express (12397) train was targeted in a stone-pelting incident during its approach to Mirzapur station on Monday.

Maintenance staff member C T Ravikesh Yadav reported that at approximately 7.21 pm, an unknown individual threw stones from the south side, hitting the guard’s brake van. Fortunately, no injuries were reported.

The guard of the Mahabodhi Express, Mustaq Ahmed, communicated the incident to control via mobile, confirming that the stone struck the guard brake at kilometer marker 736/3, with no injuries to passengers or crew. In response to the report, Assistant Sub-Inspector Ashok Kumar and Head Constable Girdhar Kushwaha conducted a search of the area around the Mirzapur Eastern and Western Goods Yards, but found no suspects.

ASI Ashok Kumar filed a report under case number 511/24, invoking Sections 153 and 147 of the Railway Act against unknown individuals at 9.40 pm, as per entry number 55.

“When the Mahabodhi Express (train number 12397) was nearing Mirzapur, the coach attendant and guard reported to control that a stone had hit the brake van. The control promptly notified the RPF and addressed the situation. Fortunately, no casualties or injuries were reported”, stated Shashikant Tripathi, CPRO of North-Central Railway.

A case has been registered against unknown miscreants for pelting stones on the guard brake van of Mahabodhi Express while it was entering Mirzapur station. According to the CPRO Norther Central Railway, a case was registered at the post, Crime No. 511/24, Section 153 147 Railway Act. (ANI)
