TUMAKURU: Hours after six people died in a head-on collision, a woman and her daughter were killed in an accident near an underpass on National Highway-206 close to Ramashettyhalli in Tiptur taluk on Monday.
The deceased were identified as Kamala (35) and her daughter Veena (15), a Class 10 student. A pedestrian, Madappa (50), also sustained head injuries and was shifted to Tumakuru. Kamala was taking her daughter to drop her off at school when she was knocked down by a bus belonging to Geetanjaneya Garments.
Villagers staged a protest by not allowing the police to shift the body to hospital for post-mortem examination. They pointed out that residents of Huchchanahatti, Ramashettyhalli, Doddamarpanahalli, Hidenahalli had been demanding an underpass for a long time. The Tiptur police have registered a case.
