BIDAR: More than 10 newborns are in critical condition at the BRIMS hospital in Bidar after an electrical short circuit caused by heavy rain last night.

The incident occurred on the 6th floor of the hospital, where the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) ward is located. The backup generator on the ground floor was drowned in water, causing a short circuit.

The newborns were shifted to other hospitals with oxygen cylinders. The parents, along with BRIMS authorities and staff, shifted the children to a private hospital and the government maternity hospital in Old City. The condition of 20 to 25 newborns is still critical.
