KOPPAL: A woman was allegedly killed by her husband’s relatives who opposed their inter-caste marriage, in Vitalapur village of the district. The incident occurred on August 29, but came to light only now.
The deceased has been identified as Mariyamma (21) who belonged to the Madiga community. Mariyamma and Hanumayya were in love and got married in April 2023. Hanumayya belongs to the ST community.
Mariyamma’s family has now alleged that ever since the they got married, Hanumayya’s family has been harassing their daughter because she is from the Madiga community. The family also Hanumayya’s family of murdering her on August 29 by poisoning her meal.
A case has been filed against 13 members of Hanumaiah’s family at the Kanakagiri police station.
