HUBBALLI: A woman died and 18 people suffered serious injuries after a truck collided with a goods vehicle near Tadas Cross in Kalaghatagi police limits in Dharwad district on Wednesday.
The deceased was identified as Basamma (38). She and the injured hailed from Jinnoor village in Kalaghatagi taluk. They were on their way to the Tarihal industrial area when the accident occurred.
The injured were shifted to the KIMS hospital in Hubballi. District in-charge minister Santosh Lad visited them in hospital and inquired about their condition. The condition of one of them is said to be serious.
Later, speaking to media persons, the minister said, “The victims were heading to a garment unit for work when the accident occurred. Of the 19, one person died while another is in serious condition. The remaining 17 are out of danger and are being administered treatment. The government will bear the cost of their treatment and I will discuss with the CM regarding compensation to the family of the deceased”.
The Kalaghatagi police visited the accident spot and registered a case.
