BENGALURU: The first accused in the Renukaswamy murder case, Pavithra Gowda, has applied for bail at CCH 74 Court on Monday. The court will hear the bail application on August 22.

Pavithra Gowda has been in jail for 72 days. She is the first accused in the murder case of Renukaswamy, a fan of actor Darshan, from Chitradurga. The police, who are investigating the case, are preparing to file a chargesheet soon.

Meanwhile, Pavithra Gowda’s lawyer Rani Sebastian has filed a bail application, which has come as a bit of a surprise. On June 11, actor Darshan, Pavithra Gowda and 15 others were arrested in connection with the Renukaswamy murder case.

Pavithra Gowda is the main accused while Darshan is the second accused. The police have collected over 200 pieces of evidence and are preparing to file a chargesheet.

Four people had surrendered at the Kamakshipalya police station, which led to the police intensifying their investigation. It was then revealed that actor Darshan was involved in the case. The police then went to Mysuru, arrested Darshan from a hotel and brought him to the Annapoorneshwari Nagar police station. In all, 17 people were arrested and interrogated. Currently, all the accused are in jail.
