MANDYA: Amid the ongoing BJP-JD(S) padayatra against the alleged corruption in the MUDA site allotment and Maharshi Valmiki Corporation, flexes with the picture of former BJP Hassan MLA Preetham Gowda were set on fire near Ummadahalli on the outskirts of Mandya on Wednesday night.

The flexes had been erected at an underpass on the Bengaluru-Mysuru highway to welcome the leaders of both parties who are participating in the padayatra. However, some unidentified miscreants poured petrol on them and set them on fire.

BJP and JD(S) workers had clashed on Wednesday over Preetham Gowda’s participation in the padayatra.

On Wednesday, a group of BJP and JD(S) workers had clashed over Preetham Gowda participating in the padayatra. When BJP workers raised slogans in favour of Preetham Gowda, it angered a group of JD(S) workers, leading to a clash.

Union minister and JD(S) leader H D Kumaraswamy has earlier directly blamed Preetham Gowda for distribution of pen drives allegedly containing obscene videos of his nephew and former Hassan MP Prajwal Revanna.
