BENGALURU: Amid allegations about the Parashurama statue installed at the theme park built on Bailur Umikal hill in Karkala taluk being made of fibre, the Karkala police conducted an inspection at the Kengeri godown near Bengaluru on Saturday, where the statue was made.

The police examined the materials used for the construction of the statue. The Karkala town police have taken up an investigation after the controversy revolving around the construction of the Parashurama statue.

Former minister and MLA V Sunil Kumar had built the Parashurama theme park. The Congress had alleged that the theme park was inaugurated without completing the work. The party workers pressured the government to conduct a fair investigation in the matter.

Following a recommendation from Udupi district in-charge minister Lakshmi Hebbalkar, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah ordered a CID investigation.

After the inauguration, locals expressed suspicion over closure of the theme park for completion of pending work, including the installation of lightning arresters.

A new controversy had started alleging that the Parashurama statue was made of fibre and not bronze, as claimed. District in-charge minister  Lakshmi Hebbalkar had also conducted an inspection. Officials were ordered to investigate as they did not provide clear information.
