Liquor traders withdraw protest call

BENGALURU: Liquor traders, who had planned a statewide protest on Friday against harassment by Excise officials and corruption, have withdrawn the call. This comes after an assurance from the government to look into their grievances.

The Federation of Wine Merchants’ Associations had called for a statewide protest on Friday. After the goverment promised to look into their demands, the federation general secretary wrote to all district and taluk office-bearers informing them of the decision to withdraw the protest.
