UDUPI: A suo motu case has been registered at the Udupi town police station against a doctor for an inflammatory post against the Muslim community on social media.
Social media influencers Abhi and Niyu had posted on X saying, “If you could delete one thing from the plant today – what would it be?” Replying to the post, Dr Keerthan Upadhya, a consultant laparascopic and laser surgeon at Mahesh Hospital at Brahmavar, replied in comments section saying, “Muslim community”.
The controversial comment came in for severe criticism following which Dr Keerthan deleted the post. However, screenshots of his reply had gone viral following which a case was registered based on a complaint by social media monitoring cell sub-inspector of police Ajmal Ibrahim.
