Deputy CM launches development works under Brand Bengaluru in Gandhinagar, other areas

BENGALURU: Depuy CM D K Shivakumar on Monday inaugurated development works under ‘Brand Bengaluru’ in Gandhinagar. This is the first phase of the white-topping work. The Deputy CM was accompanied by Minister for Health and Family Welfare Dinesh Gundurao, BBMP Chief Commissioner Tushar Giri Nath and other officials.

Speaking to the media, Shivakumar said that the government has taken up the white-topping work in Gandhinagar at a cost of Rs 1,800 crore and will complete 3-4 km of work per day. The white-topping work should not be a problem for the public. “Measures have been taken to make high quality roads, and we will try to build new roads in the coming days”, he added.

Shivakumar inaugurated development work in Gandhinagar , Malleswaram and Mahalakshmi Layout. He also mentioned that the government has taken steps to ensure transparency in the tender process and has invited bids for the white-topping work.

Shivakumar accused Union minister H D Kumaraswamy of corruption in the garbage tender process. He challenged Kumaraswamy to a debate on the issue, saying, “Let’s have a debate on TV, and I’ll show you the proof. Kumaraswamy is frustrated”.

Shivakumar alleged that Kumaraswamy’s family is involved in corruption. “Our family is not known as the ‘king of corruption’. We have not indulged in any corrupt activities, and I have asked him to come forward and answer the allegations”, he said.

“They don’t know anything other than driving a garbage truck. We have set out to put everything in order. Let the BJP fight amongst themselves. We will give a suitable answer”, he remarked.

The Deputy CM also said that his family has not been involved in any corrupt activities and has challenged Kumaraswamy to prove otherwise. Shivakumar further alleged that Kumaraswamy is trying to cover up his own corrupt activities by making false accusations against others.
