Youth kills younger brother with a hammer for refusing to give phone play games

BENGALURU: A youth killed his younger brother by striking him with a hammer for not giving him his mobile phone to play online games, in Sarjapur on the outskirts of the city. The accused has been identified as Shivakumar (18) while the victim is Pranesh (15).

On Friday, Pranesh’s body was found abandoned in a field on the outskirts of Neriga village in Sarjapur under suspicious circumstances. The murder came to light during investigation and the accused admitted that he had killed his brother. Shivakumar was addicted to online games and killed his brother as he did not give his mobile phone.

The accused, Shivakumar and Pranesh are sons of Channamma and Basavaraj, originally from Sulakeri village in Andhra Pradesh. Shivakumar had dome to Neriga village three months ago in search of a job while Pranesh was was staying at his grandmother’s house and pursuing studies. He had come to Neriga village for summer vacation.

The accused planned the killing and stole a hammer from an under-construction building. Shivakumar murdered Pranesh when the latter had gone to relieve himself in a field. The family started looking for Pranesh when they realised he was missing and Shivakumar also joined them, pretending not to know about the death. He also claimed that he was the first to spot the body of Pranesh. Based on his statement, the police got suspicious and interrogated him when confessed to the murder.
